About Reiki

During Reiki treatment earlier research by Dr Zimmerman and Dr Becker in the 1980’s, discovered a sequence of events occur which you will find extremely interesting. Reiki is a treatment which belongs to the Energy Medicine family. When the Reiki practitioner administers the Reiki therapy to a patient both the brain wave patterns of the practitioner and patient become synchronized. Their brain wave patterns are in the spectrum of the Alpha brain waves (relaxed but alert) and are also pulsing in unison with the earth’s magnetic field (Schumann Resonance). At this point in time the bio-magnetic field of the practitioners’ hands is at least one thousand times greater than normal. It is believed that the practitioner may draw on the infinite energy resources via the Schumann Resonance. It is also believed that they are in tune with the great web of universal life which connects all forms of life.

The spectrum of frequencies detected during Reiki treatment is between 0.5Hz and 30Hz, staying mainly around 7.5Hz. Frequencies have been used in traditional medicine in recent years by placing a coil around a fracture which has stalled in its healing process. Not many establishments use this treatment today as it is so cheap to make and use that doctors think it not worthy of consideration.

Dr Becker explained that brain waves travel throughout the body via the outer sleeve of the nervous system. During treatment the waves are quite weak pulses and grow in strength as they travel through the nervous system into the hands of the practitioner. The same process also takes place in the patient. This feature is not unique to Reiki, a similar process takes place in Spiritual Healing and other similar therapies.

It is only with total commitment and integrity that the Reiki practitioner is able to access their higher consciousness, reactivating their past healing abilities, channelling this energy for the benefit of mankind.

No matter whether the suffering is physical or mental, Reiki will aid your recovery. Targeting and working on the root cause of a problem which usually starts with restricted energy flow around the body, or congestion in one of the Chakra areas long before it manifests itself as a condition in the physical body. Healing will often help with the recovery from serious illness, major surgery and from the effects of treatments such as chemotherapy/radiation therapy. Other benefits include:

  • Easing tension and promoting relaxation
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Help with bereavement
  • Improving quality of sleep
  • Treating Animals and Plants
  • Soothing pain and improving joint mobility
  • Reducing the effects of trauma

It is by no means limited to this area. It compliments and works well with all other forms of natural and traditional medicine.

The Reiki practitioner will take a few moments to attune themselves with the universal energies and begin to channel these energies down through to their hands. You may be laying on a couch or sitting in a chair. You may feel a slight tingling sensation in the area of the practitioners hands or sometimes you may feel nothing at all. The session will last for between twenty and thirty minutes.

History of Reiki

Pronounced ray-key meaning ‘universal life energy’. ‘Rei’ means spirit, aura or subtle energy and ‘ki’ means energy or power. It is an ancient form of Japanese healing which was forgotten about for a very long time. In the nineteenth century the system was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, who passed on this knowledge in an oral tradition to ‘Grand Masters’ who form the lineage through which Reiki has been handed down.
